A unique opportunity has arisen for Social Care Advisors to join Richmond Council's First Contact Team, working jointly for the Richmond and Wandsworth Better Service Partnership. The SSA serves over half a million residents across these two boroughs, and Richmond Council is passionate about transforming services to connect with Richmond Council's communities. This role is a vital part of Richmond Council's efforts to make a difference in the lives of those approaching adult social care for the first time. You will be part of the First Contact team, providing an effective and accessible service as a first point of contact for Adult Social Care.

About the Role

As a Social Care Advisor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Working creatively with residents to explore all available preventative options and connect them to local services.
  • Engaging in meaningful conversations to identify needs and risks within statutory frameworks, employing a strengths-based and person-centred approach.
  • Maintaining clear, open dialogues with individuals to identify their strengths and networks, facilitating access to preventative services that support independence.
  • Keeping up-to-date knowledge of local community services.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely case recording.
  • Being an excellent team player and supporting colleagues within the team and the wider organization.
  • Identifying safeguarding concerns and taking timely action, as well as seeking support when needed.

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • A Social Care qualification (e.g., NVQ II, III, etc.).
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle your own caseload effectively.
