Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking an organised, professional and patient-focused person to join Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust's friendly administration team in the Maxillofacial department here at QMC. Your main role would be to be responsible for the audio typing and transcription of all clinical correspondence across Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust's Oral and Maxillofacial specialty.
The successful person will ensure all clinical correspondence is typed and processed within specified timescales. You will need fast and accurate audio typing skills and a sound knowledge of medical terminology. Flexibility is crucial as you will provide typing support for the specialty during core hours of 08:00-17:00.
Main duties of the job
- Accurately transcribing from Winscribe digital dictation and Winscribe Speech Recognition digital dictation.
- Responsible for the production of discharge summaries and clinical papers.
- Use judgement to prioritise importance of particular requests.
- Undertake daily peer audit of clinical correspondence.
- Liaising with other secretaries and administrators to ensure timely patient care.
- Manage retrieval of Inter Provider Transfers and take necessary action.
- Adapt a flexible attitude to meet service needs.
- Provide cover for colleagues during sickness or annual leave.

Person Specification
Training & Qualifications
Essential
- 5 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade C or above, must include English.
- RSA III or equivalent typing qualification.
Desirable
- NVQ level 3 in administration or equivalent.
Experience
Essential
- Proven fast and accurate typing skills.
- Administration experience.
- Experience of using Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel.
- Understanding of patient/client confidentiality.
Desirable
- Previous experience in the NHS.
Communication Skills

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Friendly and professional telephone manner.
