About The Role

As a Crematorium Assistant, you will work flexibly, 5 days per week, which will include regular weekends, evenings, and early mornings on a rota basis. You will be part of a close-knit team providing families with the best experience possible during their difficult times.

Your working hours will be within Westerleigh Group's core operating hours of 6 am – 10 pm daily. Variations in working hours will be discussed in advance.

Salary and Benefits

From £24,193 - £25,000 per annum + £500 salary uplift after qualification + site performance bonus + additional benefits.

Key Responsibilities

• Cremation: Fully trained under supervision, involved in the end-to-end cremation process and ashes management. Manual handling is required.
• Chapel Preparation: Ensure the chapel hall is ready before each service, welcome families, and assist with orders of service and music.
• Administration: Provide excellent customer service, assist families with queries, and use software for record-keeping.
• Ad Hoc Tasks: Engage in basic gardening, support Christmas services, and maintain the site’s appearance.

This role requires a flexible approach, teamwork, and a commitment to providing exceptional care.

About You

• Previous experience in the bereavement or funeral industry is beneficial but not essential; training will be provided.
• Suitable backgrounds include retail, hospitality, or any customer service-oriented roles.
• Emotionally resilient, organized, and attentive to detail.
• Ability to handle physical demands of the job; PPE will be provided.
• A compassionate communicator who can engage with families in a caring manner.
• Good IT skills, including proficiency in Word and Excel.
