About the team:

St Philips Marsh is home to Great Western Railway's DMU fleet and various maintenance operations. Great Western Railway focus on delivering safe, clean, and prompt services, working on a tight exam regime with day and night servicing.

About the job:

This role is critical for carrying out warehouse and storage activities while adhering to engineering procedures.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the Group Stores Manager in supplying stock and non-stock materials.
  • Ordering materials, including train spares and cleaning equipment.
  • Booking materials to the correct cost centre using the SAP - IFMS system.
  • Performing stock checks, unloading, and placing materials into the correct locations.
  • Following waste disposal procedures and operating forklift trucks.
  • Complying with 6s-Lean Principles, COSHH, and GWR health and safety procedures.

About you:

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude.
  • Able to work under pressure and prioritize effectively.
  • Proactive and passionate about achieving high standards.
  • Willing to work shifts, including nights.
  • Able to pass forklift training.

What do I need?

  • Previous stores and railway engineering logistics experience.
  • Good educational background.
  • Full current driving license.
  • Understanding of GWR, purchasing, and materials management.
  • Good IT skills, including SAP E-Procurement and Microsoft Office.

Working pattern:

The shift pattern is as follows:

  • 10-hour shifts
  • 4 days on followed by 4 days off
  • 4 nights on followed by 4 days off
  • Earlies: 06:00 - 16:00
  • Lates: 10:00 - 20:00
  • Nights: 20:00 - 06:00
