Travel Requirements: Travel to Bury St Edmunds and Deeside

Role Overview:

VMS (Fleet Management) Ltd is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the home delivery fleet operations for Iceland Supermarket. The role primarily involves managing operational aspects of the fleet, ensuring vehicle compliance (MOT, servicing, refrigeration maintenance), and minimizing vehicle off-road time. This position also requires liaising with internal teams and clients to ensure smooth fleet management. The successful candidate will build and maintain strong relationships with clients and colleagues while providing remote support to the administration team based at Iceland’s head office in Deeside. Occasional travel will be necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day fleet operations for supermarket home delivery vehicles.
  • Ensure full compliance with vehicle regulations, including MOTs, servicing, and refrigeration maintenance.
  • Minimize VOR (Vehicles Off Road) time through proactive management.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for Supermarket clients regarding fleet operations.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and service providers to maintain fleet efficiency.
  • Provide support and leadership to the operations team.
  • Work closely with the Operations Director to align with company goals.
  • Travel occasionally for meetings and support.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in fleet or logistics management, preferably in a home delivery or retail environment.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle compliance and servicing schedules.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for managing operational challenges.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple locations.
  • Flexibility to travel as required.
  • Technical knowledge from a vehicle maintenance perspective.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualifications in fleet management or logistics are desirable.
  • A full UK driving license is required.
