Overview

The Terrace is a Michelin and Good Food Guided-listed restaurant in Yarmouth Harbour overlooking the sea. The Terrace pride ourselves on high-quality food and service and are open all year round, seven days in summer, five in winter. Over four years The Terrace have become an important part of the Yarmouth community and been recognised by The Michelin Guide, The AA Guide, and The Good Food Guide.

With winter approaching and many of The Terrace's team heading off to university, The Terrace is keen to hire a new Front of House Team Member to work with The Terrace year-round. The Terrace offer generous tips, a highly professional working environment, and a career plan for every team member. Over the quieter season, The Terrace will develop the right person to become a shift supervisor, able to run the entire restaurant on-shift.

Responsibilities

  • Manage guest experience in the restaurant, taking orders, making drinks, serving food, and clearing efficiently and effortlessly.
  • Delight The Terrace's guests – show warmth, interest, and efficiency to ensure every guest has the perfect experience.
  • Read tables and understand how they are feeling and act accordingly.
  • Understand The Terrace's food, wine, and service offering until you feel comfortable taking ownership of shifts.
  • Handle customer inquiries and feedback in a timely and satisfactory manner.
  • Observe health and safety regulations to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Oversee daily restaurant operations, customer service, and staff management.
  • Train to become a shift manager over the winter season, understanding everything that happens in a service and how to manage it with confidence.

About You

  • Previous experience in a restaurant or pub; management experience is a plus.
  • Proven reliability and long-term service in positions.
  • A flexible mindset with an understanding that hospitality is not a 9-5 job but is rewarding.
  • A desire to learn and develop as a hospitality professional.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with customers, staff, and suppliers.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations while maintaining composure and professionalism.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address issues promptly and find effective solutions.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
