Overview

Academics Ltd is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and inclusive specialist school in Oxford. This school caters for students aged 3 to 11 with a range of additional learning needs, including Autism, Speech and Language needs, Physical Disabilities, Learning Difficulties, and social/emotional challenges. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting these students and helping them achieve their educational, emotional, and social goals.

About the Role

Your responsibilities will be varied and rewarding. You will work closely with experienced Teachers and Specialists to support children with their educational development. You will help create a positive and nurturing learning environment, assist students with class activities, and equip them with life skills. You will also build strong relationships with the students, acting as a role model and mentor to help them thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students with additional learning needs, including Autism, Speech and Language difficulties, Physical Disabilities, and more.
  • Work closely with teachers to deliver tailored support for each student.
  • Assist students in class activities, encouraging participation and engagement.
  • Provide emotional and social support to students, helping them build confidence and life skills.
  • Help with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and other learning strategies.
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with students, becoming a key figure in their development.

What Academics Ltd is Looking For

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and will be passionate about working with children with special educational needs. Previous experience working with children or vulnerable adults is desirable, but not essential. A relevant degree in Psychology, Sociology, or Health and Social Care is beneficial, but not mandatory.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children or vulnerable adults is an advantage.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A positive and bright personality.

Working Hours and Pay

This position is a full-time role with working hours from Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 15:15. The pay rate is £80 to £90 per day, depending on experience.
