Overview

West Suffolk Council is currently recruiting for a Market Officer to join West Suffolk Council's Economic Development team. This role is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual to join the team and play an important role in the delivery of West Suffolk council markets.

West Suffolk Council's markets currently operate from five main locations: Bury St Edmunds, Clare, Newmarket, Haverhill, and Mildenhall. This role will be primarily based in Haverhill.

Responsibilities

The primary focus will be coordinating the day-to-day market activities, organizing market traders, collecting rents, managing, and keeping records.

  • Work within the wider economic development team to promote the continual success of West Suffolk Council's markets.
  • Be a good communicator with a friendly, outgoing demeanor, flexible, and prepared to work in an outdoor environment.
  • Adopt a hands-on, can-do approach to meet the daily demands of delivering excellent services to West Suffolk Council's customers and residents.
  • Demonstrate a positive approach to Health & Safety and be prepared to take on additional training as required.
  • Be a team player, working within the wider team where communication and collaboration are key to the success of the role.
  • Hold a minimum of a Class B driving license.
  • Working pattern is Friday and Saturdays, subject to review. Weekdays may change depending on cover required.
