Overview

Job Summary:

Due to the expansion of the current business, PPI Engineering Ltd is seeking to recruit an experienced production & warehouse controller.

As part of the production function, you will be responsible for the successful capacity planning and scheduling of all manufacturing operations within the MRP system. Your tasks will include ensuring material, equipment, and operator availability while balancing supply and demand, coordinating and optimizing manufacturing processes and resources. You will also manage potential bottleneck areas through visual planning.

As a warehouse controller, your responsibilities will include using an ERP/MRP system to control parts, assemblies, consumables, warehouse locations, kitting, and stock control/auditing. You will implement and manage the process of goods received and returned, coordinating material handling both in stock locations and across the site.

Working in a lean environment, you will introduce and maintain visual stream maps to ensure fluent movement across all operations. You will manage the creation of works orders and documentation handling via process flows, ensuring the correct data and sequences are followed. You will also manage the Bills of Materials via MRP integration to ensure all components are accounted for.

Reviewing and maintaining stock demands and adjusting based on reporting will be essential. As part of business development, you will be involved in implementing a new ERP/MRP system, creating, managing, and controlling processes to ensure production targets are met. This will include setting up workstations, identifying and assigning skill sets, producing standardized workflows, and managing stock control of consumables.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the capacity schedule of production operations to ensure project deadlines are met.
  • Issue works orders and manufacturing instructions.
  • Produce production workflows for main product types.
  • Prepare status and performance reports.
  • Review T&A relating to estimate vs actuals to optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Carry out continuous improvements to manufacturing operations and set-up.
  • Manage the stock of materials, consignment, and consumables.
  • Ensure the availability of operators, equipment, and materials in accordance with project demand.
  • Control documentation including drawings, process specifications, and data sheets.
  • Coordinate logistics for both sub-contract and final product dispatch.
  • Liaise with engineering to ensure BoMs are released in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with warehouse staff to ensure kitting demands are met.
  • Manage the storage of goods.
  • Control and handle COSHH-related items, including shelf-life management.
  • Responsible for arranging the unpacking and packing of goods in accordance with relevant process specifications.
  • Manage the barcoding and serialization of components at goods receipt and dispatch stages.
  • Always adhere to Health & Safety Regulations.
  • Comply with Industry Standard Quality Systems – ISO 9001.

Qualifications & Education:

National Diploma and/or NVQ Level 4 relating to Engineering and Production/Project Management.

  • Understanding of Rotating Electrical Machines and associated processes.
  • Understanding of a lean manufacturing environment.

Experience:

Proven experience as a production planner within an engineering environment or similar.

  • Excellent knowledge of production planning and relevant quality control principles.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Projects and ERP/MRP Systems.
  • Knowledge of Warehouse Set-ups and management.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Familiarity with an array of manufacturing processes.
  • Good understanding of electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to work both independently and in small groups.

Physical Requirements:

  • Full UK Driving License.
  • UK or National Passport.
