Poundland

Poundland is a British variety store chain founded in 1990. It once sold most items at the single price of £1, including clearance items and proprietary brands.

Poundland's retailing concept is extremely simple: a range of more than 3,000 items – representing AMAZING VALUE for money. Poundland's pilot store opened in the Octagon Centre, Burton-upon-Trent, in December of 1990, followed by new stores in High Street, Meadowhall and other quality trading locations.

Named Discount Retailer of the Year in 2015, it now has over 18,000 colleagues who serve over seven million customers every week from Wick to Weymouth, Londonderry to Lowestoft and Holyhead to Hastings.

Customers of Poundland will be able to purchase items online for the first time after the company completed its takeover of online discounter, Poundshop. The bargain retailer said the acquisition is part of a wider 'transformation of Poundland' that will launch a national roll-out of its own online store.
