Job Description – Assembly Operative Castelan Dept – Team Leader

Reports to: Key Account Manager.

Job Overview: You will be required to check all work being carried out on the floor to assure the work has been completed within Quality standards, work directly with the manager to get orders out as efficiently as possible. You will attend meetings and give feedback to your manager whilst carrying out your daily tasks. Double check documentation to ensure the right information has been given and work with other departments to achieve goals. You will be a role model for the other staff on the floor and always keep a high standard and positive attitude toward the business.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Always wear your uniform provided.
  • Work as part of the assembly team or independently when required, meeting quality standards in regular checks.
  • Responsible for keeping your work area clean and tidy in accordance with the company H&S policy.
  • Ensure all products produced are kept to a high standard.
  • Palletise products to meet criteria in accordance with your training to reduce damage during shipping.
  • Meet daily and monthly deadlines set out by your manager.
  • Be aware of all documentation to be put on the pallets and ensure the correct documentation is in place before shipping.
  • Pack hazardous goods in line with your training.
  • Wear PPE provided when handling hazardous goods.
  • Communicate with other departments by following the correct procedures.
  • Order day-to-day items to facilitate the timely dispatch of orders.
  • Inform your manager of illness before your shift starts.
  • Be aware of chemicals in the area and ensure PPE is used by you and staff.
  • Overtime is not compulsory, but you may be asked to work outside of your contracted hours to reach deadlines and targets.
  • Observe health & safety requirements as per the company’s Health & Safety Policy.
  • Observe quality management requirements as per the company’s Quality Management Policy.
  • Carry out any other tasks assigned by management.
  • Oversee the full floor and communicate with each team to ensure orders are hitting deadlines and report to the supervisor on any issues.
  • Problem-solving – if an error occurs, determine how to fix it.
  • Maintain a high standard in product control and check that products are going out correctly.
  • Provide additional on-the-job training if needed.
  • Report to the manager if anyone is not following health and safety guidelines or procedures.
  • Cover admin duties for the manager during holidays/absence.
  • Key Holder – responsible for opening/closing the factory at times.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Previous production and warehouse experience.
  • Previous senior role experience.

Desirable Skills:

  • Forklift certification (training can be offered).
  • First Aid certification (training can be offered).
  • Fire Marshall training (training can be offered).

Working Patterns:

Working patterns may vary during busy periods depending on demands, which could result in working split shifts.

Usual Working Hours:

  • Monday-Friday 8am-4pm
  • Split shift: 6am-2pm or 2pm-10pm
