Overview

An exciting opportunity to join an experienced and enthusiastic ultrasound team has arisen at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust. You will be based at Broomfield Hospital, which is a busy District General Hospital, with rotation to two local Community Hospitals. Southend University Hospital NHS Trust can offer you a busy, challenging, and varied workload, including:

  • Antenatal ultrasound services
  • General, small parts, paediatric, DVT, and MSK scanning

Southend University Hospital NHS Trust provide support to the Early Pregnancy Unit, Urology and Gynae clinics, and you will have the opportunity to work alongside the consultant radiologists on the Emergency Floor, scanning emergency and urgent inpatient cases.

Responsibilities

  • To work at an advanced level of practice providing a high-quality ultrasound service with comprehensive independently written reports.
  • Communicate highly complex information regarding diagnosis/treatment directly with Clinicians and patients.
  • To independently prioritise patients and organise workload from a variety of referral pathways to meet the needs of the service.
  • To ensure the highest professional occupational standards are maintained at all times using a high level of specialist knowledge in line with local, regional and national guidelines where appropriate.
  • To work autonomously performing a wide range of ultrasound examinations, including abdominal, obstetrics, and gynaecology.
  • To provide accurate dating based on fetal ultrasound measurements in the pregnant woman - crucial to the calculation and confirmation of the expected date of delivery, and for the planning of antenatal care and tests.
  • Participate in the provision of a screening service to detect fetal abnormalities, monitor growth in the “at risk” fetus, and management of the multiple pregnancy.
