The Benefits service is a busy team supporting over 30,000 residents in Croydon with Housing Benefit and Council Tax support. Croydon Council support low-income residents and families to pay their rent and council tax. Customer service is at the heart of what Croydon Council do as Croydon Council aim to provide a good and sustainable service for those who need it.
The team deals with various methods of contact via telephones, email, and online forms. The role entails answering claimants' calls and dealing with their queries in relation to their benefit claims, as well as working through emails and forms sent in by claimants updating Croydon Council with their change of circumstances. There will be the need to call residents to clarify information and advise them of their current benefit entitlements.
Responsibilities
- Respond to queries via phone and email.
- Update claimants about their benefits.
- Clarify information with residents.
Requirements
- Knowledge of Benefits legislation.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Competent in mathematics.
Working Hours
Permanent position with 36 hours per week.
