Birth Reflections Lead Midwife

The post is for a qualified midwife who wants to further their experience and skills in midwifery. The Birth Reflections service is a specialist service for women and birthing people to discuss their birth experience with an experienced midwife. The aim is to address gaps in understanding and questions the woman and her partner may have, discuss ongoing emotional, psychological and physical concerns, and choices and recommendations for any future birth.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring that all women and families receive safe, competent, and compassionate care.
- Supporting colleagues flexibly on a day-to-day basis.
- Establishing and maintaining effective communication with women, families, and wider agencies.
- Promoting team working and interdisciplinary relationships.
- Leading transformation work related to trauma-informed care.
- Recording information competently on maternity data systems.

Person Specification
Essential qualifications include:
- Diploma or degree in midwifery.
- Registered midwife on relevant part of the NMC Register.
- Birth trauma training.
Essential experience includes:
- Working with women who have mental health issues.
- Change management experience.
- Demonstrable clinical experience in midwifery.
Communication skills should include the ability to build meaningful relationships and communicate effectively at all levels.
