Citizens Advice Mid Mercia is looking for full-time Community Advisors to join Citizens Advice Mid Mercia's GAIN (Guidance, Advice, Information and Network) Project. Community Advisors for Multiple Needs will provide personalised support to disadvantaged vulnerable adults living in Birmingham to support the improvement of their health and wellbeing. You will work within one of Birmingham’s four main quadrants (Birmingham North, Birmingham South, Birmingham East, Birmingham West & Central) delivering advice and support from accessible outreach locations.

Responsibilities / Key Tasks

  • Interview clients using sensitive listening and questioning skills in order to allow clients to explain their problem(s) and empower them to set their own priorities.
  • Assist clients with other related problems where they are an integral part of their case and refer to other advisers or specialist agencies as appropriate.
  • Maintain confidentiality, use discretion and sound judgement in all areas of responsibility.
  • Provide advice, information and guidance on a range of issues including housing, benefits, debt, employment and health services.
  • Work as part of a wider team through a multi-agency approach, collaborating with local organisations to raise awareness of the service and strengthen the local community offering.

  • Salary – £23,400-£24,822 depending on experience.
  • Hybrid Working – at outreach venues across one of the four quadrants and from home.
  • Contract – fixed-term until 30 Nov 2029 with possible extension for another 2 years.
