Colorectal Assistant Practitioner

Overview

St Mark’s Hospital is looking to recruit a Colorectal Assistant Practitioner to join their established team of Stoma and Pouch Nurse Specialists. The stoma care department at St Mark's Hospital is one of the largest teams in the UK for stoma and fistula management.

The post holder will provide long-term management and support to patients with a stoma, internal pouch, or fistula. This specific care will be provided through comprehensive clinical skills, information, advice, and support to patients undergoing stoma-forming surgery.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the CNS in teaching ward patients basic stoma/pouch/fistula care.
• Provide reassurance and psychosocial support to patients and families.
• Mentor student nurses or healthcare assistants in stoma care.
• Maintain departmental and ward stock levels.
• Organise and plan patient support events.
• Document clearly within patient records and databases.
