Community Use is the team that works hard to ensure most of the Halls, Community Centres and Schools in Fife are available for everyone to enjoy learning, leisure, life, and cultural events. Together with amazing partners, Fife Council deliver a fantastic programme of inclusive pursuits including:

Fife Council also offer space for meetings, celebrations, and community events in both modern and historical buildings usually found in the heart of the Kingdom’s city, towns & villages.

As a Caretaker/Cleaner, you will:

  • Engage with customers and service users in a positive manner.
  • Respond to customer inquiries via phone, email, and face-to-face.
  • Operate Fife Council's booking procedures and systems.
  • Work five days over seven, which may include evenings and weekends.
  • Clean and maintain all designated areas to a high standard.
  • Prepare and clear equipment/areas as appropriate to suit customer needs.
  • Complete building compliance checks periodically, including fire safety checks and water quality checks.
  • Act as a nominated key holder responsible for ensuring the building is secured correctly.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Cleaning and maintaining the facility to high standards.
  • Responding to alarm activations and working alone when necessary.
  • Traveling between different facilities, some with limited public transport links.

The Person:

Fife Council is looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who can work unsupervised and independently as part of a wider team. You will possess:

  • Good communication skills.
  • Customer-focused attitude.
  • Ability to be flexible and open to change.
  • Basic understanding of IT and capability to use internal systems.

Before confirming your appointment, you will need:

To obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
