Overview

The clinical fellowship in Neuro-Oncology is a 12-month post, with the possibility of extension to 24 months. This role supports clinical research and provides specialist experience and training for the successful applicant.

Role Overview

The fellow will gain experience in advanced radiotherapy and the clinical management of oncological patients. Overseas applications are welcome; however, applicants must hold full General Medical Council (GMC) registration and have the right to work in the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in patient clinics focusing on primary brain tumours.
  • Develop and lead clinical research projects.
  • Engage in the setup, recruitment, and oversight of clinical studies delivering Tumour Treating Fields (TTFields) in brain cancer patients.
  • Attend multidisciplinary team (MDT) and outpatient clinics as required.
  • Contribute to clinical governance and audit activities.

Skills and Experience Requirements

  • Full GMC registration.
  • Passed the IELTS exam (if applicable).
  • Medical degree with an interest in Clinical Oncology.
  • Motivated for research and clinical trial experience.

Organisational Arrangement

This post is based at The Christie within the Department of Clinical Oncology, under the supervision of the consultant clinician. The fellow will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including consultants, clinical fellows, and research nurses.

The Trust is committed to providing time and financial support for CPD activities as required by the GMC and surgical colleges.

Role Planning

The role involves a maximum of five clinic sessions per week focused on primary brain tumours, offering wide exposure to holistic treatments for patients.
