Tower Hamlets London Borough Council is investing in community safety and developing innovative new approaches with partners to maximise Tower Hamlets London Borough Council's efforts in ensuring young people are kept safe. Tower Hamlets London Borough Council is an ambitious borough aiming to deliver a first-class community safety service.

The Role

This is a new project that will work alongside various partners to support the Community Safety Partnership priority of safeguarding those at risk of violence and exploitation. The post holder will work with enforcement officers, youth workers, school staff, and others to engage young people and their families to ensure they are kept safe while travelling to and from school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be involved in the focused deployment of key resources to reduce the likelihood of robberies occurring in and around schools during 3-6 pm (Protective Response).
  • Work with victims of robbery and their families to reduce further victimisation and mitigate causative factors (Acute Response).
  • Engage schools and other educational or community spaces in addressing the causes behind robberies (Educational Response).
  • Work closely with school police teams and the exploitation team to share intelligence (Preventative Response).
  • Forge partnerships with key stakeholders, including youth services, CVS, police, and enforcement officers.

The role will require enhanced DBS checks, and the working hours will require flexibility to meet young people after school, engage parents when they are free from work commitments, and attend meetings with schools early in the morning or after school.
