Overview

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trusts is seeking Clinical Psychologists or final year Trainee Clinical Psychologists with a keen interest in clinical health psychology, particularly regarding the impact of living with health conditions. Candidates may have experience working with physical health issues affecting children or adults, or experience in child and adolescent mental health services. There are several exciting opportunities for band 8a clinical psychology posts in various medical services:

  • Paediatric Renal (1.0 WTE 8a)
  • Paediatric Endocrinology, DSD & Diabetes (0.6 WTE 8a)
  • Paediatric Respiratory (0.4 WTE)
  • Paediatric LTV (long-term ventilation) (0.4 WTE 8a)

The postholder will join the respective paediatric medical services at Nottingham Children's Hospital (QMC). As a psychologist in these services, you will provide specialist clinical psychology support to children and young people, helping them manage psychological distress and achieve better treatment outcomes.

Newly qualified psychologists or 3rd Year Trainees due to qualify in 2024 are encouraged to apply.

Main Duties

Your role will involve close collaboration with the medical service multidisciplinary team, working with children and young people through consultations, direct work, and attendance at multidisciplinary clinics. Your primary location will be at the Children's Hospital QMC campus, where you'll be part of a growing Clinical Psychology Department with specializations in Paediatric Psychology, Adult Medical Psychology, and Child and Adult Neuropsychology.

  • Completed (or due to complete in 2024) postgraduate doctoral level DClinPsy in clinical psychology accredited by the BPS.
  • Current HCPC registration for Clinical Psychologist or eligibility to qualify for registration in 2024.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS/HCPC.

Desirable

  • Post-doctoral training in specialized areas of psychological practice.
  • Previous training in medical psychology.
  • Training in supervising other psychological professionals.

Experience

Essential

  • Working with people with medical/chronic physical health conditions.
  • Exercising clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care.
  • Teaching, training, and/or professional and clinical supervision.

  • Experience within a multidisciplinary team including medicine and nursing.
  • Conducting risk assessments.
