Overview

Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of individuals living with dementia? West Berkshire Council is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Care Practitioner to join West Berkshire Council's Adult Social Care Service at West Berkshire Council.

Responsibilities

  • To maintain the general welfare of residents by supporting the provision of interests, activities, and stimulation according to assessed needs and capabilities.
  • Attending to residents' physical, nutritional, and personal care needs, including toileting, while supporting them to achieve maximum independence.
  • Ensuring that the environment is maintained for residents and staff, giving due regard to health and safety.
  • Working within the appropriate policies and procedures, completing associated paperwork including residents' care records, nutrition, and fluid charts.
  • Assisting residents in maintaining their dignity and respecting the social and cultural histories of service users.
  • Being aware of service users' dietary and health needs, and reporting any issues or concerns.
  • Acting in accordance with West Berkshire Council’s confidentiality policy.
  • Reporting any areas of concern promptly to senior staff or appropriate agencies.
  • Attending to any emergency resident issues promptly in accordance with relevant policy and procedure.

General Duties

  • Providing help with maintaining cleanliness of the service premises.
  • Operating in accordance with Responsive Care Providers' four core values.
  • Participating in and contributing generally to West Berkshire Council activities, attending meetings and training courses.
  • Undertaking training identified within the staff skills profile, including NVQ level 2 in Care.
  • Working flexibly and undertaking any other duties as may be required for the efficient running of the home.
  • Promoting equality as an integral part of the role, treating everyone with fairness and dignity.
  • Complying with WBC health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Adhering to the standards set out in the WBC competency framework and code of conduct.
