Cutting Room Operative

Overview

Cooneen Group is currently recruiting for a Cutting Room Operative on a Fixed Term basis. Successful candidates will be part of a close-knit team responsible for servicing the Sewing Floor with the correct cut parts to the required standard on time.

The Job:

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Understand Cutting Plan
• Select markers according to the plan by required fabric types
• Arrange marker on the Spreading Table working with agreed end wastage
• Select fabric rolls according to Cutting Sheet/instructions
• Check each roll or sheet is the same as the approved swatch in the Technical Specification Pack
• Load auto spreader manually using the gantry crane
• Look out for fabric defects whilst spreading
• Update documentation as per the SOP to ensure product traceability
• Ensure fabric is laid properly and consistently across the lay, with even ends
• Count ply depth on both ends of the lay
• Lay up marker correctly on the lay ready for cutting
• For fabric in sheet form, follow the above as appropriate
• Understand the operation of Bulmer/Gerber Autocutters
• Understand the operation of a Servo Assisted Table Knife

The Candidate:

Essential Criteria:

• Minimum of 12 months machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment
• Proven ability in numeracy & literacy
• Ability to follow instructions
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Quality conscious
• Excellent communication skills

Desirable Criteria:

• 4 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above (must include English & Mathematics)
• Experience of cutting materials
• 2 years experience in using a variety of cutting machines
