Job Overview

To support Sheffield City Council's collection management, Sheffield City Council is looking for Casual Shelving Assistants. This role involves working at the end of the school term, during school holidays, and at the beginning of the new school term. Typically, work sessions last for four hours. Staff will be notified in advance to select dates and times that align with service needs.

Responsibilities

  • Shelving returned books and other resources.
  • Occasionally processing new resources.
  • Maintaining speed and accuracy in shelving tasks.

Skills and Experience

Some familiarity with the Dewey Decimal Classification system is beneficial, though full training will be provided. This role is physical and repetitive, but also rewarding.

Working Hours and Flexibility

Full-time employees work 37 hours per week for 52 weeks a year. Sheffield City Council offer generous holiday entitlements and are open to flexible working arrangements, including reduced hour contracts or job shares.
