About the team:

The stations team delivers a wide range of services to Great Western Railway's customers, from being the first and last point of contact in a customer's journey to selling and checking tickets, providing essential information, and ensuring a memorable customer experience.

About the job:

As a Customer Sales Advisor, your primary role will be to confidently and impartially sell a full range of tickets and services, while ensuring that customer needs are met and exceeded.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Providing the highest level of customer service and being dedicated to customer needs.
  • Accurately and impartially selling the full range of products and services in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner.
  • Maximizing opportunities for increased sales at ticket offices by employing effective selling techniques.
  • Carrying out routine maintenance and cleaning of ticket machines and IT equipment.
  • Completing all accountancy and other associated documentation accurately.

You'll need to be:

  • Able to deliver extraordinary front-line customer service.
  • Understanding of customer requirements and expectations.
  • A self-starter with a positive attitude.
  • Confident in decision-making.
  • Calm yet directive in crisis situations.
  • Able to work to strict procedures.

As a minimum, you will need to have:

  • The ability to work as part of a team or independently.
  • Evidence of numerical ability.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Working Pattern: This part-time position covers 17.5 hours per week. The current working hours are from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM, with a trial period of three months.

Additional Information:

  • After submitting your application, you'll complete an online assessment (recommended on a laptop/computer).
  • Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a competency-based interview.
  • Successful applicants must pass a medical assessment, including drug and alcohol screening, and a Basic DBS check.
  • Full training will be provided, including a 2-week training program in Swindon, which will be full time.
