Overview

The Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Housing and Communities team at Braintree District Council for a Community Safety Officer.

This role is responsible for leading and coordinating the work of the Braintree District Community Safety Partnership to reduce crime and disorder across the district, working with various organizations to deliver a range of interventions.

Experience Required:

Essex County Council is looking for a highly motivated individual with a strong attention to detail and the ability to lead and support multiple projects while ensuring they meet agreed outcomes. This role requires extensive partnership working with organizations in the public, private, and voluntary sectors, as well as direct engagement with communities. Strong networking, influencing, and negotiation skills are essential.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Community Safety Partnership Action Plan.
  • Oversee the development and production of the CSP’s annual strategic assessment.
  • Coordinate the Responsible Authority Group and chair any subgroups of the CSP.
  • Prepare performance reports related to progress against targets, gathering data to ensure accurate information is recorded.
  • Develop and lead a range of community safety projects and initiatives, including need identification, analysis, and resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, procedures, and good practice in all interventions.
  • Build strong working relationships with statutory, voluntary, and business partners, including Essex Police and the Office of the PFCC.
  • Lead preparation of funding bids to external partners.
  • Promote and sustain relevant internal and external networks for information and partnership development.
  • Deputize for the Community Services Manager and represent the CSP in necessary meetings.
  • Coordinate and chair anti-social behaviour case reviews.
  • Promote the work of the community safety partnership.
  • Research new government initiatives and guidelines related to community safety, raising awareness among Council Officers and external partners.
