Sunrise Children’s Centre offers overnight short breaks for children and young people in West Kent, from the age of 5 to 18 years old, who have disabilities, including Autism and complex medical health needs. Kent County Council always support children to have fun with their friends and peers, learn skills, make choices, and to be supported in a safe and nurturing environment.

Kent County Council is seeking a Children’s Residential Worker to work 20 hours per week, on a rolling 4-week rota basis, including 2 weekends per month and some Bank holidays. The role requires excellent communication skills to work as part of a busy team providing a high standard of care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Able to follow Care Plans whilst keeping them updated
  • Support and assist children and young people with their personal care needs
  • Create factual reports
  • Willing to undertake training and put theory into practice
  • Proactive approach to own learning
  • Communicate in an open and honest manner
  • Organise and deliver new opportunities of recreational and social experiences for children and young people
  • Awareness of the Childrens Homes (England) Regulations 2015
  • Hold a Diploma level 3/4 in Residential Childcare, or equivalent, or be willing to work towards this
