Clinical Support Worker - Endoscopy

Overview

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust's JAG accredited Endoscopy Unit at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust's friendly team as a clinical support worker. You will assist in the care of patients attending for a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures, and transport endoscopes for decontamination.

Main duties of the job

• Work under the direction of a registered nurse, providing nursing care and assistance to patients.
• Provide basic patient care and document that care in electronic records.
• Transport clean and dirty endoscopes to the sterile service department.
• Return damaged scopes for repair and follow correct protocols.
• Perform general housekeeping duties.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to promote patient well-being.
• Plan and prioritize endoscopes required for daily service lists.
• Provide post-procedure patient care in the recovery area.

Person Specification

Essential

• Basic IT skills.
• Literacy and numeracy skills.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable

• Previous care experience.
• Experience in manual handling of patients.
• Previous endoscopy experience.
• Venepuncture competence.
