South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated Physiotherapy Assistant to join the Physiotherapy Team on the Trauma and Orthopaedic Wards at The James Cook University Hospital. In this role, you will support Physiotherapists in delivering high-quality treatment and rehabilitation to patients within the hospital. Candidates should be friendly, helpful, and motivated, ideally with some experience working with the public. A keen interest in patient rehabilitation is essential, as ongoing professional development will be actively encouraged.

The successful candidate must pass a pre-employment medical assessment and provide disclosure details before starting work. Flexibility to work across both hospital sites may be required.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Support Physiotherapists in delivering efficient and effective Physiotherapy services.
  • Assist with skilled support work to facilitate patient rehabilitation on the Orthopaedic wards.
  • Conduct treatments for delegated patients, including group work as per care plans or protocols.
  • Perform administrative tasks and equipment maintenance as necessary.

Salary and Benefits

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • 3 A-levels or Health and Science T-level or equivalent Level 3 qualification(s) and Functional Skills (Level 2) OR as a Level 3 apprenticeship, such as the Senior Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship.
  • Completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties.

Desirable

  • Care Certificate.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
  • Time-keeping, planning, and prioritisation abilities.
  • Basic IT skills for using electronic patient records and other Trust systems.
