An opportunity has arisen for Clinical Support Workers to join the team on Ward 35 Respiratory at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. Ward 35 is a busy 28-bedded Acute Respiratory ward where University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust's friendly team takes pride in providing the best care to University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust's patients. University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust seek enthusiastic and motivated individuals with prior care experience who can adapt to both day and night shifts. Structured appraisal, support, and training will be provided.

Main Duties of the Job

As a Clinical Support Worker, you will:

  • Work under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide nursing care and assistance to patients.
  • Engage in direct patient care, which includes washing and dressing patients, assisting with diet and fluids, and helping with toilet needs and mobility.
  • Contribute to the prevention of pressure ulcers by ensuring high-quality care and patient safety.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Good general education
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills

Desirable

  • Willingness to undertake NVQ level 3 in a care-related area
  • Completion of the Trust Support Worker Programme
  • ECDL or equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience working with the general public

Desirable

  • Experience in manual handling of patients using lifting aids

Skills, Ability, and Knowledge

Essential

  • Good basic hygiene skills
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and independently

Desirable

  • Awareness of NHS structure and current issues
  • Basic IT skills
