You will earn £23,152 a year working full time (37 hours a week), or £12 per hour pro rata, as Cardiff Council is a Voluntary Living Wage employer. The Living Wage is reviewed each year, and Cardiff Council reserves the right to make changes to, or remove, the Living Wage Supplement.
Cardiff Council's Glamorgan Archives Team is looking to employ a Corporate Trainee based at Glamorgan Archives, Clos Parc Morgannwg, Leckwith, Cardiff CF11 8AW to contribute to Cardiff Council's service helping Cardiff Council to collect, preserve, and make available to the public documents relating to the history of Glamorgan dating from the 12th century to the present day. Over 12km of documents are held in the strongrooms of its purpose-built facility.

About the Job
In this Corporate Trainee role, you will learn to:
- Produce high-quality digital copies of archive material from the Glamorgan Archives collection.
- Edit digital images producing copies suitable for a variety of purposes.
- Upload digital content and associated metadata to online discovery portals.
- Respond to customer requests for digital copies of material within the collection.
- Develop customer service skills by email.
- Appropriately handle original archive material.
To support your development, you will receive on-the-job training and supervision, including full training in using Cardiff Council's specialist digital imaging equipment and IT systems to help you deliver an efficient and effective service in a positive and customer-focused manner. You will also be supported by a named mentor who will encourage you to develop a range of transferable skills to support your career progression.
This role will be based onsite at the Glamorgan Archives building in Leckwith, Cardiff. Working hours will be flexible during Cardiff Council's office hours, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 5 pm.

Working onsite at Glamorgan Archives, you will help Cardiff Council's team look after 1000 years of written history. The skills you will develop include using IT for digital imaging and data entry, delivering high-quality customer service, improving access to the collection, and helping to care for and preserve the collection. There will also be an opportunity to contribute to the Archives’ social media.
Additional Information
This post is temporary for 6 months if worked full time, or longer if worked part time. Most roles are based on a 37-hour week, though many can be worked on a part-time basis.
