Overview

You will earn £23,152 a year working full time (37 hours a week), or £12 per hour pro rata, as Cardiff Council is a Voluntary Living Wage employer. The Living Wage is reviewed each year, and Cardiff Council reserves the right to make changes to, or remove, the Living Wage Supplement.

Cardiff Council's West Hubs Team is looking to employ a Corporate Trainee based at Fairwater Hub, Doyle Avenue, Cardiff, CF5 3HU, and Llandaff North & Gabalfa Hub, Gabalfa Avenue, Cardiff, CF14 2HU.

Community Hubs provide a face-to-face service to the citizens of Cardiff with a main focus on community wellbeing. The Hubs offer support with:

  • Bulky waste orders
  • Library provision & Community Hub events

About the Job

In this Corporate Trainee role, you will support Cardiff Council's service and learn to work as part of a team to deliver first-class service. Responsibilities include:

  • Developing general office administration skills, including using Word and Excel
  • Answering telephones
  • Assisting customers with their enquiries
  • Helping to set up and run community events and groups

Full training will be provided by Cardiff Council's Team, and you will be encouraged to take on a variety of duties. You will receive supervision and on-the-job training with a named mentor to support you in delivering efficient and effective service.

This role will be located within the West district of Cardiff, including the Community Hubs of Fairwater and Llandaff North & Gabalfa. Please note that Community Hubs are open from 9 am – 6 pm plus one late night a week (closing at 7 pm) and Saturday from 9 am – 5.30 pm. You will work on a rota basis, including some evening and weekend work.

Additional Information

This post will require a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service check. It is temporary for 6 months if worked full time, or longer if worked part time. Most roles are based on a 37-hour week, although many can be worked part time.
