The Role

Bolton Council is looking for an experienced, innovative, and technically minded individual to manage and oversee the Council’s Commercial Waste service. It’s an exciting time to join Bolton Council’s Waste and Recycling Team, as Bolton Council modernise Bolton Council's bin collection operations for both domestic and commercial properties.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure access to an efficient, purpose-fit Council-operated recycling and waste collection service for Bolton’s businesses.
• Drive performance, retain existing customers, and expand the commercial waste service across the borough.
• Design and distribute promotional campaigns and materials.
• Provide quotations to potential customers and manage customer relationships.
• Supervise an operational team and monitor compliance with statutory regulations.

About You

You will be a commercially driven, customer-focused individual with a passion for sales and increasing income. Exceptional communication skills are crucial for this role, and you will need to be professional, organised, and meticulous in your approach.

Your focus will include:

• Retaining existing customers and expanding the service.
• Managing all aspects of income and expenditure.
• Providing regular reports to senior management.
• Ensuring Health and Safety underpins all operational activities.

This is a challenging and fast-paced role, ideal for a self-starter with strong people management skills and ideally a background in project management or commercial waste legislation.
