Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board is seeking a passionate Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP) to provide optimum care for patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed injuries and illnesses. This position can accommodate both Trainee and Trained practitioners.
Role Summary
The ENP will practice autonomously, ensuring the highest standards of care are maintained. Key responsibilities include:
- Clinical assessment, examination, diagnosis, and management of patients in the Emergency Department.
- Providing specialist advice to outside agencies and the public.
- Safe discharge of patients to appropriate specialties without the need for a doctor's reference.
- Educating and training junior medical and nursing staff.
- Engaging in research and development activities.
Main Duties
The ENP will be accountable for all aspects of patient management, demonstrating specialist knowledge in clinical procedures, and the ability to:
- Order appropriate clinical investigations (e.g., x-rays, blood tests).
- Interpret and analyze clinical data accurately.
- Refer to on-call specialist teams when necessary.
- Prescribe and administer medication independently or through PGDs.
- Facilitate teaching and training of new practitioners.
Qualifications
Essential
- NMC Registered Nurse
- Immediate Life Support (ILS) certification

- Mentorship experience
- Up-to-date mandatory training
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Extensive evidence-based knowledge in clinical specialty.
- Experience in a multi-disciplinary team.
Desirable
- Clinical supervision experience.
- Knowledge of clinical governance.
Skills

- Strong adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

- Welsh language proficiency.
