Overview

Croydon has the largest population of children and young people of any London borough, and we are looking for someone to support the delivery of a range of grant funded programmes that will help local children and families to access provision to improve their wellbeing and educational outcomes.  This is a new role within our Education Department, working with colleagues across the Council and external partners.

You will be responsible for providing high-quality business and financial support, for programmes including Holiday Activity & Food, Universal Free School Meals and the Household Support Fund. These programmes provide valuable support and services to some of our most vulnerable children.

You will need a good understanding of the issues that affect local children and families, as well as awareness of how schools, education settings and local providers of additional wrap around services .  You will be responsible for managing your own workload, so good administrative and organisational skills are crucial, as are excellent written and oral communication abilities.  As you will be working with a wide variety of agencies, including schools and the voluntary sector, you will need to be able to build strong working relationships while maintaining high standards of professionalism and a “can do” attitude.

This post is fixed term/secondment  for 12 months due to external funding. We welcome interest from applicants seeking flexible working arrangements, including part-time but with a minimum requirement of 25 hours per week up to a maximum of 36 hours per week.

Closing date Sunday 10 September at 11:59pm

Interviews to be held w/c 25 September

Croydon Council is an inclusive employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community. Subject to business needs, we will be pleased to consider applications from candidates seeking flexible working arrangements and support hybrid working, whereby staff attend the workplace for part of their working week and work from home, or elsewhere, remotely for the rest of the time.

As users of the disability confident scheme, we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the advertised role.

Croydon council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share this commitment.
