Environmental Services Officer

Overview

Sunderland City Council has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Services Officer to play a key role in the operational delivery of Local Environmental Services. This role involves the hands-on management and maintenance of:

• Grounds
• Sports pitches
• Parks
• Open spaces
• Street cleansing

Participation in the winter maintenance service provision is also required. As part of Sunderland’s City Plan, Sunderland City Council aim to create a city where every neighbourhood is safe, clean, and welcoming. The successful candidate will have experience delivering high-quality environmental services and will be adept at working collaboratively with partners and communities across the city. Key responsibilities include:

• Implementing and improving operational service delivery plans
• Ensuring the efficient allocation of resources to meet key objectives
• Supporting the development and use of technology to enhance frontline services
• Ensuring health and safety of employees and others, including risk assessments

This is a challenging and dynamic role that may require working outside of normal hours to meet operational needs. You will be part of a busy and vibrant team, working closely with both internal and external customers. Excellent communication skills, along with strong numeracy and customer service abilities, are essential.
