Role Overview

The FGC Children’s Advocate will empower children and families by helping them articulate their wishes and feelings during the Family Group Conference process. This position focuses on ensuring children feel heard, valued, and respected, contributing to their safety and well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate advocacy for children and vulnerable adults during Family Group Conferences.
  • Gather and represent the views of children, ensuring their voice is central in discussions.
  • Support families in understanding the concerns of professionals while helping them create safe, informed plans.
  • Collaborate with FGC coordinators to maintain open communication regarding children's needs and perspectives.
  • Empower families to take charge of their planning and decision-making processes.
  • Adapt to the needs of families and children, demonstrating flexibility in approach.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children and families in social care, education, youth justice, counseling, mediation, health, or community work.
  • Strong communication skills to engage effectively with children, families, and professionals.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Resilience in facing challenging situations and a commitment to promoting positive outcomes.
  • Fluency in English is required to ensure effective communication in this role.

Working Conditions
