Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and flexible Healthcare Assistant to join Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust's established team of nursing staff based on Chartwell Ward. This role involves providing care and support to Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust's younger adult in-patients currently experiencing acute mental health difficulties requiring inpatient admission, which can be challenging at times.
Commitment to meeting the needs of individuals with mental health issues and valuing their rights is essential. A flexible working pattern is required, along with a dedication to self-development and training. Opportunities for undertaking an NVQ and Health Care Worker Certificate are available.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering a patient-focused service that promotes independence.
- Providing routine information orally, in writing, or electronically to colleagues and patients.
- Offering support and advice to patients and their caregivers.
- Facilitating patients' involvement in therapeutic activities to enhance their independence.
- Performing physical health care and checks as necessary.
- Documenting health checks accurately and reporting changes to the healthcare professional in charge.
- Undertaking daily tasks as directed by nursing staff.
De-escalation techniques may be necessary, along with undertaking PSS restraint training. Patience and understanding in communication with distressed young adults are crucial.
