Overview

Cambridgeshire County Council is offering an opportunity for an Inspector with highway or groundworker construction experience to fulfil a role in a busy team dealing with the challenges presented by an ambitious and wide-ranging growth agenda. The team has two full-time field-based and permanent positions available. The ability to travel to different sites throughout the County is essential.

What will you be doing?

Key responsibilities include inspection of all aspects of the highway infrastructure during the construction of residential development or offsite highway improvement schemes necessitated by new development. You will work with a variety of developers and contractors to ensure works are undertaken to CCC's specifications, so good communication skills are key. In addition to your technical skills, you will need initiative and sound technical judgement to facilitate the resolution of engineering issues as they arise on site, promoting timely works to facilitate adoption of schemes.

About you

Ideally, you will have a BTEC National Certificate Level 3 in Civil Engineering or Construction or equivalent knowledge and experience in a related highway or construction discipline. You should have a sound knowledge of the planning system and associated highway works procedures, capable of working with colleagues, stakeholders, partners, and the public for effective service delivery and coordination of development-related projects.
