Overview

Job Introduction

Purpose of the Job:

  • To lead and support on various projects that develop services, strategies, policies, and procedures within the Strategic Growth team, focusing on housing, homelessness, and domestic abuse.
  • To assist in delivering and managing all forms of accommodation, including temporary, supported, and private rented sector accommodation.
  • To coordinate, collect, verify, collate, and ensure all relevant data is collected from various sources and submitted timely, complying with government and local requirements, and to generate reports that inform service delivery and performance.
  • To conduct Housing Needs Surveys regularly to inform developers, planning colleagues, Registered Providers, etc., about needs within the District.
  • To undertake a full range of professional duties, emphasizing good customer service, addressing needs, and maximizing income while achieving greater service efficiencies.

You will have the opportunity to collaborate with partner organizations, undertake research work, and develop strong working relationships with landlords, all of which will help in enhancing Wyre Forest District Council's services. You must be able to confidently lead and drive forward projects and initiatives regarding housing, homelessness, and domestic abuse.

Day-to-Day Tasks Include:

  • Working with the Housing Manager and Senior Project Housing Officer to establish, monitor, and review contracts of commissioned services.
  • Developing and implementing housing and homelessness strategies and action plans, including those that help prevent homelessness.
  • Supporting the team to ensure units of temporary accommodation meet compliance requirements.
  • Utilizing IT systems to support performance management and assist the business with rent accounts and income collection.
  • Confidently leading projects and initiatives and conducting research work.

The successful candidate should possess a good standard of education (preferably to degree level), with a minimum of 5 GCSEs including Maths and English, A Levels or equivalent, and at least 2 years of related work experience with customers, landlords, Registered Providers, or similar. Membership of CIH is desirable.

They should be IT literate to a high standard, including email, spreadsheets, databases, social media, and survey tools, with an IT qualification being preferable. You will need to be self-motivated, a strategic thinker, and possess excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with team members and the public.

This part-time position consists of 18.5 hours per week, with an annual salary of £32,564 – £35,348 pro rata. Appointment is usually made at the bottom of the salary band, with annual increments until the top of the scale is reached.

Special Conditions:

  • You must provide a suitable vehicle related to the duties of this post.
  • A flexible approach to working hours is required, including the ability to work outside normal office hours and be available for evening meetings.
  • To meet service needs, the ability to undertake the full range of duties for the contracted hours is necessary.
  • You must be able to meet the physical demands of the job, particularly in accessing and inspecting properties.
  • Appointment to this post is subject to satisfactory clearance of a basic Disclosure and Barring Service Check.
