About Emerging Futures

Emerging Futures works nationally with people affected by addiction, encouraging them to make positive changes to their lives. Emerging Futures believe that no one should suffer the stigma associated with addiction, and that everyone seeking support should feel valued and respected. Emerging Futures's behavior change services provide a confidential space to share experiences and offer practical support to those wanting to change.

About The Role

As a Housing Support Worker, you will support individuals with a history of substance and/or alcohol issues, whether they are abstinent or working towards it, who are living in supported housing projects. You will assist with the daily running of the project and coordinate all aspects of the residents’ care, including referrals, move-in plans, assessments, and case notes. You will work closely with colleagues and partner agencies to provide a range of interventions to support recovery and help residents achieve independent living in the community.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and guidance to residents in a confidential and respectful manner.
  • Coordinate care plans and ensure all aspects of resident care are managed effectively.
  • Develop and implement psychological interventions to support residents' well-being.
  • Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.

What Emerging Futures're Looking For:

This is an entry-level role, and Emerging Futures understand that not all candidates will have direct work experience in a similar position. While a passion for working with people affected by addiction is crucial, candidates may also have experience with individuals with complex needs, including those with challenging behavior or substance misuse issues.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience supporting individuals to develop personal strengths within a supported housing environment.
  • An understanding of the effects of drug and alcohol misuse on health and personal relationships.
  • Experience in building partnerships with other organizations.
  • A qualification in coaching, counseling, or Health and Social Care.
  • Specialist harm reduction experience.

Employee Testimonials:

“My professional development is being addressed all the time. I have had so much training while I have been here.”

“Emerging Futures try to create an environment where it’s ok not to be ok. I feel very blessed to be part of this organization.”

Benefits:

  • Casual dress
  • Company pension
  • On-site parking
  • Referral programme
