International Customs Team Leader

Our International Customs Team Leader is looking for a fantastic International Customs Team Leader to join their high performing team. You would be responsible for for DPD UK Customs processes and declarations. Lead and inspire the International Customs team to complete all customs processes compliantly and on time. Be a point of accountability and escalation
to international operations, other departments, the DPD Group and customers for Customs related matters. Supporting the International Customs Manager in supporting business growth opportunities, maintaining relationships with customs authorities and driving enhancements with our ICI provider.
Other Key tasks will include:
- Lead, inspire and develop the Customs team
- Ensure all Customs declarations and processes are completed within a timely manner to avoid delays to international parcels for both exports and imports
- Ensure Customs declarations are compliant with HMRC regulations and DPD authorisations in relation to the import and export operation through training and internal checks
- Deliver the optimum utilisation of the Customs team and make appropriate changes as required
- Deliver key Customs KPI’s on time as required
- Lead and assist with the implementation of new operational processes in-line with the development of International services and products
- Offer operational support to the Service teams for any operational process required during the shift
- Provide recommendations and implement Customs processes and simplifications
- Liaise with and maintain an excellent working relationship with HMRC and Border Force on Customs matters and enquiries
- Support the resolution of customer and supplier enquiries relating to Customs in the International operation
- Action and escalate where necessary any issues that may arise in Customs processes or data in relation to DPD UK customers or the DPDgroup or international partners
- Managing shifts and cover for bank holidays
- Managing operational cover during peak periods
Qualifications
You will have an excellent understanding of HMRC regulations for international Exports, Imports and Transit along with:
- A proven track record and experience in International operations essential
- Excellent communication skills
- Must be competent in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and KeyNote
- Customer facing skills essential
- Proven track record and experience in rolling out new processes
- Flexible to working hours and travel
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills essential
- Strong organisational skills and time management
- A professional attitude and be a good team player
- Flexibility and a positive approach to change
- Experience of working on AEB and other ICI platforms is an advantage
