Overview

St Luke's Hospice has a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated and experienced staff nurse to join our friendly In-Patient Unit team on a full-time basis. This opportunity is to work either permanent nights or rotational long days and night shifts, including some weekends and 3 x night shifts on a permanent basis. This post is located at St Luke's In Patient Unit, Thurrock and will allow the post-holder to gain knowledge and experience within Palliative Care.

As a Registered Nurse in our In-Patient Unit at Thurrock, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of excellent, high-quality care, coordinating with other healthcare professionals, assisting with patient admissions and discharges, and adhering to nursing standards and best practices. 

The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Providing excellent high-quality patient care
  • Coordinating with doctors and other healthcare professionals
  • Managing patient admissions and discharges
  • Caring for patients at end of life
  • Maintaining nursing documentation and patient records (System one)
  • Participating in staff meetings and continuous education opportunities
About the Candidate
All applicants should have the following qualifications, registrations, skills and experience:
  • A relevant nursing degree.
  • Current NMC registration with an active PIN.
  • Fundamentals of Practice Nursing course (General Practice Nurse Foundation Programme) or equivalent experience or qualifications;
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting;
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
  • An understanding and empathetic approach to patient care.
