Independent Reviewing Officer

Job Profile:

Westmorland & Furness Council is looking for an experienced Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join Westmorland & Furness Council's Children's Services. This role is crucial in safeguarding children and improving outcomes for Westmorland and Furness' most vulnerable populations.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct reviews for children in care and child protection conferences.
• Chair meetings and lead strategy sessions to ensure children's needs are met.
• Scrutinize Local Authority performance to maintain quality assurance.
• Engage with children to record their views and ensure their wishes are heard.

Who Westmorland & Furness Council is Looking For:

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Expert knowledge of child protection procedures and care planning legislation.
• Ability to chair challenging meetings and influence stakeholders.
• A Social Work Qualification and registration with Social Work England.
• Experience at a Team Manager or Advanced Practitioner level.
• Knowledge of the Signs of Safety framework is an advantage.
