Job Summary
Working closely with primary and secondary care colleagues, the MSK teams serve the local community in outpatient settings across Hampshire. Referrals are received directly from GPs and Orthopaedic Consultants, as well as self-referrals. The service benefits from a robust rehabilitation team working alongside registered staff to provide one-on-one rehabilitation and group sessions.
The MSK team is committed to continued professional development and promotes evidence-based practice. Alongside a varied MSK caseload, you will have opportunities to develop leadership skills with responsibilities for junior staff and students. As a valued team member, you will benefit from an extensive professional development programme, including regular clinical supervision, CPD funding through Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust's ACE academy, and support towards advanced practice. Additionally, Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust have developed an internship that allows experienced staff to further their clinical development.
Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required
- Undertakes highly skilled musculoskeletal assessment of patients, including those with complex presentations, and formulates a diagnosis and treatment plan as an autonomous practitioner.
- Takes a role in the supervision, teaching, and appraisal of senior, junior, and rehabilitation assistants, physiotherapy students, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Deputise for the Team Leader as required.
- Actively involved in service development for the department, Trust, and profession.
- Completes tasks assigned/delegated by the team lead in a timely and professional manner.
- Supervises, initiates, and participates in evidence-based projects, assists in implementing changes within the designated team/area, and sets and monitors standards of practice.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- Degree or equivalent in physiotherapy.
- HCPC or equivalent registration.
- Evidence of CPD in musculoskeletal care in the form of a detailed personal development portfolio.
- Postgraduate education/courses in musculoskeletal care.
Experience
Essential
- Minimum 12 months post-registration experience in a musculoskeletal setting.
- Advanced knowledge of anatomy and physiology underlying musculoskeletal injuries.
- Understands the legal responsibilities of the profession.
- Basic understanding of computers and their applications.
