Job Overview

The role involves working at the Herreschoff Kiln site, which produces soft calcined kaolin utilizing continuous multiple hearth calciner technology. This site serves high-value markets including Pharmaceutical, Rubber, Polymers, Paints, and Plastics.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out routine preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance.
  • Fault finding, diagnostic, and installation work.
  • Calibrating and diagnosing faults on instrumentation systems.
  • Conducting risk assessments and ensuring all work areas are clean and free from hazards.
  • Ordering site spares.
  • Working from height and in confined spaces.

Work Schedule

The site operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Once fully competent, you will be required to join a rota system to provide out-of-hours support. Shifts are 12 hours, from 6 am to 6 pm, with alternating week patterns:

  • Week 1: Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, Sun (Wed & Thu off)
  • Week 2: Wed, Thu (Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, Sun off)

Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 qualification in mechanical and/or electrical discipline, or equivalent with indentured apprenticeship.
  • Willingness to take further training to become multi-skilled.
  • Previous experience of working with pumps, mills, burners/furnaces/gas, intrusive chemical work, and centrifuges.
  • A background in commercial/heavy industry, production, or factory-based environment.
  • Strong HSEQ ethos.
  • Proficient in the use of IT or willing to learn.
  • Legally able to drive in the UK.
