Overview

Location of Role: Colchester

Starting Salary: £33,915.00 (pro-rata for part-time vacancies)

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 0800-1600 (flexibility may be required)

The purpose of the role is to:

  • Conduct Polygraph Tests with volunteer registered sex offenders.
  • Identify previously unknown information regarding the risk posed by offenders.
  • Support the Offender Manager role by conducting unannounced monitoring visits.
  • Carry out searches and act as exhibits officer, ensuring the integrity of evidence.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide critical analysis and sound decision-making in risk assessment.
  • Effectively manage workload and identify risk and harm.
  • Communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals.
  • Contribute to the management of risk presented by offenders to the community.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Previous experience in crime investigation.
  • Ability to identify intelligence development opportunities.
  • Good understanding of Public Protection crime types, particularly sex offenders.
  • BMUK Accreditation with up-to-date CPD is desirable.

Polygraph staff are required to attend an external residential course expected to last 12 weeks. The successful candidate must be aware that they will be expected to remain in role for 5 years or be responsible for the cost of the course if they leave earlier.
