Membership Services Assistant - Urgent, Immediate Start

The British Museum is seeking a Membership Services Assistant to join the Advancement department. The main purpose of this role is to deliver excellent customer care to Members and provide administrative support for the day-to-day running of the Membership Office.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Accurately process all new Membership applications, renewals, gift aid declarations, payments (including direct debit), event ticket applications, postal applications, and donations to agreed procedures and service level standards.
- Handle all general enquiries and correspondence, via telephone, in writing, or by email to agreed standards and procedures, escalating issues as necessary.
- Maintain data integrity, ensure accurate data recording, and adhere to data processing protocols at all times.
- Support the administration and organisation of Members’ events as necessary and attend events outside of general working hours (Time Off In Lieu will be given).
- Assist the Membership Services Manager and Membership Services Coordinator in other tasks related to customer care for Members.
About you:
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent; English and Maths are essential.
- Experience in dealing with the public and diffusing difficult situations.
- Excellent telephone manner and strong written correspondence skills.
- Proven customer service skills with experience in direct customer service, e.g., retail or reception.
- Experience with CRM Databases or similar software and proficient in Microsoft Office packages.
- Accuracy in data entry with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Able to evaluate and improve repetitive tasks and procedures.
- Enjoys working with people in a busy office environment while managing a variety of tasks.
