Overview

An opening has arisen for a time-served multi-skilled technician to join the on-site maintenance team at Stepping Hill Hospital. The post holder will have operational maintenance duties including both reactive and planned maintenance to the electrical distribution and systems across the Trust's premises including specialist healthcare systems such as IPS and UPS.

You will be responsible for systems and equipment such as the Nurse Call, Lifts, BMS, and Pneumatic Tube System, which will include some basic mechanical work. The post holder will have a recognised electrical-based apprenticeship, including City and Guilds and NVQ level 3 qualifications. Additional experience with building management systems and mechanical systems, including steam raising and pressure systems, will be a distinct advantage.

Main Duties

  • Operational maintenance duties, including reactive and planned maintenance.
  • Support to other disciplines as part of the multi-skilled role.
  • Take maintenance responsibility for systems and equipment such as Lifts, BMS, and Pneumatic Tube System.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills, capable of working both independently and as part of a multi-discipline team to deliver a safe and effective maintenance solution.

There will be a requirement to work overtime, both rostered and ad-hoc, at short notice to meet the needs of the Trust and its healthcare environment. The candidate will also need to be part of the on-call response team to assist Stockport NHS Foundation Trust's out-of-hours staff as required.

Person Specification

Education & Qualifications

  • Recognised Apprenticeship.
  • Qualification in Electrical Engineering/Installation (NVQ 3 equivalent or higher).
  • Good Education Standard.
  • 18th Edition (City & Guilds 2382).

Knowledge & Experience

  • Relevant Works Maintenance Background.
  • Experience of Plant Maintenance.
  • Able to communicate effectively (written).

Skills & Abilities

  • Current Driving Licence.
