About the team:
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to join the West Ealing LMD Team as a Maintenance Team Leader. The role is based in Cocklebury Sidings, Swindon, within the LTV Engineering team as a Satellite depot. The successful candidate will join a team currently responsible for the preventative and reactive maintenance and presentation of the Class 387 fleet. About the job:
You will control all movements within Cocklebury Sidings, undertaking Light Maintenance Repairs and preparation of rolling stock in accordance with local agreements. Your responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring the safe arrival and departure of all T&RS.
- Carrying out safety critical and non-safety critical tasks as per technical instructions.
- Leading GWR Maintenance Technicians and contractors at the Sidings.
- Maintaining safe conditions for all work activities.
- Prepping and dispatching T&RS off depot.
- Conducting Maintenance Repairs to Class 387s.
- Communicating effectively with the Signaller and Maintenance Control.
- Serving as Fire Warden and First Aider.
- Providing technical support for Maintenance Control.
- Managing a self-covering roster due to the small team size.
- Monitoring train recording systems & R2 and updating relevant logs.
You’ll need to be:
- Pro-active and able to work as part of a team and independently.
- Able to plan your workload to meet tight deadlines.
- Flexible to work weekends and bank holidays.
- Living within one hour of Cocklebury Sidings, Swindon.
- Technically minded with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Possessing excellent communication skills.
- Skilled in using computer applications, including Excel & Word.
As a minimum, you'll need:
- NVQ L3 or Equivalent in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- A full driving licence.
- Flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern including weekends and nights.
- Knowledge of Class 387 T&RS.
About the location:
Cocklebury is a sidings just East of Swindon station, supporting the Class 387 fleet. It’s a short walk from Swindon Station and shares the site with Network Rail's Jane Austin Training school.
Working Pattern:
A shift roster consisting of Days and Nights, providing around-the-clock coverage, including weekends and bank holidays.
