As part of Aldi's commitment to sustainability, you will work closely with the National Sustainability Manager to ensure effective operations. National Sustainability is integral to Aldi's core values, placing you at the forefront of best practices in collaboration with industry bodies, NGOs, retailers, and suppliers. Your role as a specialist will involve diverse tasks such as developing proposals, training new team members, and liaising with various stakeholders.
Aldi's National Sustainability Assistants are more than just ‘Assistants’. They specialize in various areas, such as Nutrition and the Environment, working together to keep best practices at the heart of Aldi's operations. Currently, Aldi is excited to offer an opportunity focusing on Agriculture and Animal Welfare, a key area of focus receiving attention from external stakeholders and the business alike.
This role is crucial in shaping strategies and initiatives to meet Aldi’s targets for farming, animal welfare, and environmental impact within Aldi's supply chains, particularly concerning on-farm carbon emissions.
Your New Role
- Support overarching sustainability and animal welfare initiatives across meat, dairy, and egg supply chains.
- Manage national policy development in GB & IE for Animal Welfare.
- Assist the business in achieving national and international sustainability targets.
- Manage existing farm partnerships, including communication and marketing efforts.
- Develop future farm partnerships and support project development.
- Maximize marketing communications, including website updates.
- Collaborate with external consultants to review animal welfare policies.
- Maintain regular contact with key external stakeholders to understand farming legislation.
- Work with international sustainability teams on global strategy topics.
- Conduct market research for competitor comparison and policy development.
- Support carbon emissions reduction initiatives.
- Draft communications for various sustainability topics.
- Manage reporting against international targets to demonstrate progress.
About You
- Experience in farming, animal welfare, and/or environmental impact of agriculture.
- Knowledge of livestock farming and environmental issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- High attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

- Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with the opportunity for 2 days of remote work.
